Cheesy Pretzels

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 16
  • 1 1/2 cups gold medal all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (2 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, softened
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • coarse salt

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 400°f.
  • 2 grease cookie sheet.
  • 3 mix all ingredients except egg and coarse salt in medium bowl with fork until soft dough forms.
  • 4 smooth dough gently into ball on floured board.
  • 5 knead 10 times.
  • 6 divide dough in half.
  • 7 roll half of dough into 12x8-inch rectangle.
  • 8 cut rectangle lengthwise into eight 1-inch strips.
  • 9 fold each strip lengthwise in half into 12x1/2-inch strip; pinch edges to seal.
  • 10 twist each strip into pretzel shape.
  • 11 place seam down on cookie sheet.
  • 12 beat egg in small bowl with fork until blended.
  • 13 brush pretzels with egg.
  • 14 sprinkle lightly with coarse salt.
  • 15 bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 16 remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
  • 17 repeat with remaining half of dough.
