Chinese Chicken Salad In Won Ton Baskets

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 lbs chicken breasts or 2 lbs chicken thighs, cooked and shredded
  • 6 ounces wonton wrappers (about 30)
  • salad oil (for frying)
  • 1 head lettuce, shredded
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Recipe

  • 1 combine sugar, vinegar, the 1/4 cup oil, salt, and brown sugar; mix well.
  • 2 pour over chicken, marinate for at least 20 minutes or longer.
  • 3 heat oil to 375°f
  • 4 place one wonton wrapper in basket ladle, fit another ladle on top wrapper to hold in place.
  • 5 deep fry in hot oil until golden brown; drain.
  • 6 repeat until all wrappers are made into mini baskets.
  • 7 place baskets on a platter lined with lettuce.
  • 8 fill each basket with lettuce, chicken, green onion and almonds.
  • 9 serve immediately.
